Be Careful About These 10 Sexual Injuries

If you thought that sexual intercourses can hardly ever lead to physical injuries, you would be in error. Till date, I have seen ladies with a wide range of mild to serious vulvar injuries at my clinic. Most of these problems occur due to an overflow of passion during the physical unions – and they can pose problems for pregnancy and regular ovulation cycles in the long-run. Some of the cases of straddle injuries that I have treated are:
  1. Sudden dip in blood pressure levels – These mostly occur due to the usage of lubricants that contain high levels of nitroglycerin and such other harmful chemicals. During the monthly sexology sessions I conduct, I advise women to use only such lubricants that have been medically tested to be safe. In general, using lubricants on a regular basis is not a particularly good idea.
  2. Extremely intense orgasms – Physical intercourses are all about building up the sexual passion between you and your partner to a crescendo – but having an orgasm is not necessarily a risk-free process. According to pregnancy abortion researchers, highly intense orgasms can lead to abnormal increases in the blood flow volumes – causing the blood vessels connecting to the eyes to get damaged. Early last year, I had treated a lady who had lost 60% of her vision – simply due to her fondness for having orgasms.
  3. Animal scratches – Your pet animal can be your best buddy, but it can inadvertently cause damages to your reproductive organs. As a professional gynecologist in Kolkata, I keep telling women to keep their genitalia covered while sleeping – and to not let their pets enter their rooms while having intercourses. A deep scratch can lead to severe pains, blood loss, and even infertility.
  4. Overuse of sex toys – They are colorful, they promise lots of pleasure – and most of them are extremely dangerous. Many of these toys are made of materials that are harmful for the skin. At my pregnancy and infertility clinic in Kolkata, I have also seen quite a few cases of young ladies – with a sex toy lodged inside their vagina. While surgical removal of the object is possible, this can lead to infertility treatment being required in future.
  5. Cuts and bruises – In the heat of the moment when you are having a physical union with your partner, it is extremely probable to suffer rough cuts and bruises in your genitals and/or arms and legs. That’s exactly why experts on pregnancy and abortion advise couples to have a number of soft pillows and cushions on the bed – where they would be doing ‘it’. Chances of suffering a painful bump would go down significantly.
  6. Fractures and muscle strains – That’s right – if you are too curious about trying out ‘unusual’ sexual positions, these might happen as well. While cases of penile fracture are not particularly uncommon in men, women can also end up having broken pelvic bones or ribs. In my capacity as a relatively known gynaecologist in Kolkata, I have seen ladies with badly sprained neck muscles – simply because they had tried to be too innovative during an intercourse.
  7. Risks of having oral intercourses – Shocking yet true – at my pregnancy and IVF center in Kolkata, I have even seen a woman who had accidentally swallowed the condom that her partner had put on (during an oral intercourse). Later on, I studied case studies related to gynecology, and found that such instances have been reported in many other places as well. Do make sure that you do not end up with such an unpleasant experience!
  8. Physical exhaustion – Well over three hundred calories of energy are burnt for every hour of physical intercourse. If you are involved in sexual activities for too long at a stretch, you might feel energy-sapped, and unable to perform any other (even slightly strenuous) physical actions. Chances of heart attacks remain as well, after an intercourse – particularly if your general health conditions are not robust enough. I keep telling my clients to go for blood tests and ultrasonography in Kolkata regularly – to make sure that they can handle the physical stresses of sex.
  9. Falling on slippery surfaces – Thanks to Hollywood movies, the idea of having physical unions in the shower has caught on with the younger generation in India too. It isn’t the safest of activities though, for you or your partner might slip and fall – banging your head on the ground/against the tub in the process. The resultant injuries might be serious, and can even prove to be fatal.
  10. Are you into having intercourses with more than one partner? – If yes, you are literally flirting with dangers. Apart from the probability of having to go for an emergency abortion, unprotected unions with multiple males can leave you exposed to STD attacks. In most such cases, prolonged courses for IVF treatment in India are required – to restore fertility levels.
Never ever smoke, or let your partner do so, before having an intercourse. Two well-known professional athletics experts come to my infertility and IVF clinic in Kolkata for checkups, and I advise them to stay away from too frequent sexual unions – which can cause them to feel tired on the field. Female condoms (if being used) also have to be inserted with extreme caution. I make sure that ladies who volunteer for surrogacy at my clinic do not have any lingering gynecological problem. Having an intercourse with your loved one is meant to be a pleasurable experience – but even a bit of carelessness can cause serious problems!
